Here are some basic safety suggestions for all above ground pools:
*Make sure to obtain a permit for your above ground pool if necessary. Check local code requirements in your area.
*Make sure the pool walls are at least 48” with no toe-holds a small child could use for access.
*Don’t use extension cords—have a pro run your electric line ( a licensed, bonded, insured electrician familiar with codes ).
*Never put a pool up with any electrical/power lines above or in proximity to the pool.
*Keep your pool 5’ away from the house, roof eaves, walls, etc.
*Keep children’s toys that could be used for climbing away from your pool and check frequently.
*Never—ever—not for a moment—let children play in the pool without direct adult supervision.
*Make sure your pool’s ladder ( or deck ) also complies with codes and if retractable—be certain to put up the rungs of the ladder into “non-accessible” position.
*Make sure to remove rocks & debris, level and treat the ground with an industrial strength herbicide to prevent nutgrass, crabgrass & palm trees from growing through your pool (they can grow through asphalt & concrete!), and it helps swimmer comfort to put a sand base and/or ground pad down as well.
