Testing and FAQs

…Water Testing-

Bring us a sample of your pool or spa water!  Here is what we will test for-

Total Dissolved Solids (measurement of all chemicals and minerals)

Sanitizer (Chlorine, Bromine and Biguanide)

PH (A way to measure the acidity or alkalinity of water. This is the most important part of chemical balance. (Ideal range 7.4-7.6)

Total Alkalinity (The amount of the alkaline components in water. TA acts as a buffer against rapid pH fluctuation. (Ideal range 125-150)

Calcium Hardness (The amount of dissolved calcium in water. Ideal range 175 - 275 ppm, depending on surface type).

Metals (Substances introduced by people or the environment that interfere with ideal pool conditions).

Our Goal-

To assist in proper water balance and recommend a program that allows you the least amount of maintenance time that will result in a fun and safe swimming environment for you and your family.

FAQ’s

Pool water must be circulated for maximum sanitizer effectiveness. The more your water is in motion, the harder it is for bacteria and algae to take hold. Your filter captures debris, too. The best time to circulate the water is during the day, for 10 hours or more.

The formula to calculate the volume of your pool or spa is as follows-

Length x width x average depth x 5.9 (if oval or free form*)= gallons

Length x width x average depth x 7.5 (if rectangular)= gallons

*For accurate volume contact your builder.

Some swimming pools have areas with little or no circulation. This is where algae and bacteria can begin to grow. At least once a week, the walls and floor should be brushed and vacuumed to remove debris that the filter misses. Brushing is a must, even if you use an automatic pool cleaner or retain a weekly service.

Oxidizers "shock" the water and chemically destroy the organic contamination introduced by bathers and the environment. Contaminants enter the pool constantly through swimmers and the environment. Shocking or Super Chlorination keeps the water clear and sparkling.

Every pool has characteristics that must be regularly measured and adjusted. Most important are the pH and the level of active sanitizer. By testing these two factors on a regular basis, you'll understand how bather load, weather and product application affect the water. Test your pool water two or three times per week. Also, bring us a sample once a month or more often if necessary.
